A dramatic sky, the dimmed light of the setting sun, sharp edges rounded off by a thick layer of fresh snow - the winter season offers endless opportunities for stunning landscape photography.

The low position of the sun in winter gives a softer light, which adds an impressive touch to the images. Some of the light reflects off the snow, so even when the sun is low, the shadows in the images are not as sharp as in summer.

At the end of this article I would like to give you a little advice. If possible, go out with your camera right after a fresh snowfall, don't just take a general view of the snowy landscape, but take time to look at the details, where you can find beautiful abstract patterns such as frost on leaves and spider webs, air bubbles in frozen surface water, small snow and ice crystals.
