Hi! 1X team,

I started 1X in April of this year. Thankfully, nine of my works have been "published" and I was also able to receive an "Award". 1X is known for its strict screening process, but I have come to understand over the past month that it is a place where photographers, including myself, are desperately competing with each other to pass the screening process. So, my question is, how many works are actually being sold? I sell my works on a Japanese e-commerce site, and the sales results are displayed on the artist's homepage. 1X shows the number of works, but it does not seem to show the sales results.

Thank you, Daniel. If my work was sold, I'm sure the management would contact me. That's not what I'm concerned about, I just wanted to know if the 1x organization itself is actually selling.

Hello Miki,

1x sells via its own online presence, https://1xondemand.com/ and via partner shops. But "just" prints, no stocks, such as fineartamerica.com, mediastorehaiuse.com, art9000.com and many more.

Hi Mike,

Thank you for your comment. I understand the sales route system.

I confirmed that my work is listed on 1xondemand.fineartamerica.com, mediastorehaiuse, and art9000. It's not a personal issue for me, but I wanted to know if the photographers of 1X are subject to such strict screening and if it actually leads to purchases.

Hello Miki,

For my kind of photography, it works. I sell mainly floral motifs (which by the way became hard to get published / awarded, no idea why), landscapes, and occasionally architectural abstracts and boudoir. Model shots don't sell for me, street I don't shoot, so  can't tell. Mainly awarded photographs get sold, seems some partner shops rather focus on the awarded, not "only" published works. For a while, everything that looked okay-ish got published, very visible from portfolios. The bar for that is now higher, maybe because shops did not want to "fill their shelves" with somewhat mediocre photography. But that's speculation, I have no insight to sales apart from my own.

Hello Mike,

Thank you very much for your detailed explanation and advice.

I'm glad I asked the question on the forum because I was able to get some good advice for my future plans.

Sincerely yours.

Hello Miki,

yes pictures are sold, for a reason I do not know, however,  only those from my own portfolio which are older than 2 years. further I bought one of my pictures from a German seller kunstkopie.de, but the earning related to this pictures never shows up in earnings, after contacting 1x to ask about the time lag between selling and mentioning under the earnings tab, I did not get any answer, so still waiting  If it does not show up this year, I think of unmasking the sale button for all of my pictures.

best regards

Hi

I completely agree with you, Ulrike. I have periodically over several years sent messages to 1X regarding missing information about the sale of images.

I sell through several companies and with all of them I get information about when the picture is sold, what price, what size, whether it`s a print, glass, canvas, etc.

All this makes it of course easy to check whether you really get paid for what you sell.

Of, course, I can try to buy one of mine that has never been sold, but I guess there are some photographers here who have sold/are selling all of their photos and then it won`t be so easy to check.

I hope that there will be a cange in this, and that 1x realizes that such information should have been mandatory.

I have made sales of my photographs published or awarded on 1x.  But the vast majority are photos from 4-5 years ago. It seems that recent photos have less chance of being sold. Also, the photos published up to last year had a description on the sales page and many tags. The more recent ones have no description and only 1 tag, The earning page is updated regularly at the end of the month.

Do photos that get sold - copyrighted visibly or behind the print as some other companies do?

Any thoughts?

Hello dear community! My latest works are not activated for sale, the checkbox is for sale and there is no option to buy under the picture. Please correct it.

Yes, that's why I wrote something on the forum about that.  I am missing that too.

I was so absorbed in my work that I thought this topic would not be resolved, and I received a comment. I'm sorry I didn't notice. 1x is still the same as ever, and not only do they have no intention of changing the system, but I also saw some online opinions that say that even though I submitted my work for review and everything went smoothly up to member curation, I was suddenly rejected at expert curation. I was in a similar situation recently, and even though I pay a high annual fee, I tried to write in "Request curitique" that it was sloppy, but 500 characters is quite a long number of characters. I used a translation tool to write it. After having such a bad experience, I can't understand what they're thinking, as they are openly publishing AI works that they are supposed to deny on SNS.

Hi! Gagik .

This thread asks the question, "How much sales have each artist made on 1x? Is it not displayed like other e-commerce sites?", so I would recommend posting your technical issues elsewhere, or as a new topic. However, online rumors suggest that the expert curators are on vacation and only a small number of people are working on the topic, so there is a high possibility that replies will be delayed.
