Low image quality

As I uploaded a high-res picture (1500x1000 px) today, I was shocked about the low quality.

The uploaded picture lost all fine details and looks blurry with a lot of compression artifacts. I tried to upload different sizes, to figure out a good upload size.

Some of my high-res uploads are to big for my 1920x1200 display size and I see always a resized version witch is very ugly. The only size that has a good result is the minimum size 1000x667 pixel.

On my website http://test.wolfademeit.de I show the 1350x900 px upload and the Original JPEG. I can display this picture at the full size at my 1x browser window and it should not lost quality.

At my test site you can compare the original (uploaded to 1x) and a 1:1 1x-sreen-cut from Safari.

I also show the 1x minimum size (the best result).

If someone can check the larger images (see my Portfolio) on a bigger monitor it would be great to have a response.

Hello Christoph,

I also have the same problems as I have already spoken by email.
Whatever the size of the image I upload on 1x.com site, the result is not as expected.

1. On the one hand the level of sharpness and detail photos is poor.
2. Secondly in terms of color (the difference is less visible, but we can clearly see it on the red jacket).

What are the export parameters in order to obtain the best result on 1x.com?
Note that I've tried many size (1500px, 1800px, and I've export the profil color sRGB)

Thank you in advance

Best regard,
Sylvain

Hi Sylvain

I upload my images in sRGB with somewhat between 1500 to 1800 px on the shorter side

That images appear different is one thing I remember a posting of Ralf somewhere here where he told what is done and what not. The most important aspect seems to be, tha 1x strips metadata and by that most probably the color profile too so I check the images I upload in "monitor RGB" means with no embedded profile.

Best

Hi Christoph,

Thank you for the answer.

I've tryed to understand what's wrong on my side and it's all clear now.
I've just compared your HTML and mine and something appeared :

You have 2 generated pictures
"xxxxxxx"-sd.jpg : 950px on the larger side.
"nxxxxxx"-hd.jpg : the uploaded image size

I've only one
xxxxxx-sd.jpg : 950px on the larger side.
But display in 1280x854px (the size of the uploaded image) and it's probably why it's a bit dirty

The reasons are :

1. I've NOT checked "Allow my photos to be displayed in high resolution when available". It's better now for recent upload.

2. I've re-uploaded bigger size for some old curated pictures and the message is :
"This photo is re-uploaded and awaiting screening". So i've to be patient ;)
(it will clear the color problem too because now I've check "embed color profil")

So everything is perfect now
Thank you again.

Sylvain
