Hello,

This image was heavily rejected with only 1% at the end (even though for the first 50% of curation it was at 97% - very strange!!).

I would really appreciate some suggestions as, personally, I really like the different colours popping up and I don't know how I'd improve it.

Thank you.

Sophia Hi and welcome back. A fine woildlife image you have there well captured. All I've tried to do is add mood and impact these can be rolled back depending on your final take. This is what I came up with. Saturation +17 Nik Tools Tonal contrast. Some burning tool work on the Rino and grasses. Last I use a smoke brush to try and add a moody background. Thank you far sharing. Almost forgot I cloned out some grasses around the eye...

Thanks for the tips. I have applied them. Good point about the grass on the eye.

Hello, dear Sophie B

Welcome to the forum. Wildlife images are a favor to watch. It's sad that your curation resulted like this. I wonder if you have another image where the rhino is not cropped. There may be distracting background elements but I think that might work better. For this image Daniel gave you the best possible Idea I might think of. I wish you good light...Cicek

Thanks Cicek. I do have another image of the whole rhino but he's got his head down, eating, and I prefer this one because you can see more of his face. Thanks anyway.

I don't understand why it did so well the first part of curation and then dropped permanently to 2/3%?? Something funny is going on!

best wishes, Sophie.

Well that happens sometimes to me,too. Could be the changing numbers of curators at specific times and their votes.

Hello Sophie

Thank you for sharing your photo of a white rhino with us. I'm sorry about your disappointing curation result which has happened to me twice recently as well. Daniel's edit is definitely an improvement, but I thought it might be worth looking at a black-and-white version too.

Good light, Elizabeth

Hi Sophie,

"This image was heavily rejected with only 1% at the end (even though for the first 50% of curation it was at 97% - very strange!!)."

Trust me! It's not that strange. Paying attention to these percentages will frustrate you more often than not.

I do not remember seeing this in the curation queue and I do try to see as much as possible. Had I seen it, I would have voted to reject it. The fact that the animal is cropped is a major distraction considering there is room in the frame for all of it. ) I appreciate this has been dealt with already but really needs emphasising. The grass in front of the eye has also been dealt with but for me all the grass in front of the head is a distration. I appreciate when you are dealing with wild animals in nature (or even captivity) you sometimes have to settle with what you see in front of you. However, just because something is there, doesn't mean what you capture is necessarily appealing.

What I would say as words of encouragement is if you like it, does it really matter what others think?

Thanks Elizabeth Allen, I like the b&w version as there is quite a bit of contrast on the rhino's skin. However, I like the warm African colours even more.
