Corona Eruption is my image tile.
If you are an astro photographer and been chasing the aurora borealis (northern lights in the northern hemisphere) or aurora australis ( southern lights in the southern hemisphere) you certainly know what’s this photo all about.
An aurora corona appears like a beautiful converging crown over your head. These formations usually occur at higher latitudes and involve electrons crashing into the upper atmosphere. The appearance of this shape occurs during strong Aurora activity and is the rarest shape. If you are lucky enough to experience this shape you will witness the most stunning Aurora display of them all. The Corona shape includes usually more visible colours at the same time.
On our last night in Iceland October last year we had very strong activity and unfortunately weather conditions were challenging let alone we were getting ready to go to the airport.
I’d like advice about the perceived message or visual story of your image?
What I love about this image how the lights peaking through clouds. It is. Sign of strength and power.

Hello, Isaac
Welcome to our forum and thank you for sharing your image with us. I think this image tells a powerful and dynamic story. It's power is both visual and emotional. I will try to share my interpretation of the perceived message as you asked about its visual storytelling. As it is piercing through the clouds, I perceive it as symbolizing strength and resilience. The conditions might've been difficult as you told above, but the beauty and the power still breaks through. If you are into religion and believe in angels and heavenly matters, we can say that the radiating light creates an almost celestial or divine presence. In these terms, the image feel spiritual. The color spectrum with its green pink and red hues is really a rarity. I have not ever seen to Aurora Corona live, but only in images. Yet I am mostly so the green hue when I came across similar images. in terms of visual storytelling I can say that the burst like effect in the aurora gives off a feeling of cosmic, energy and movement. I can relate to the vastness and the infinite stretch of the universe because of the stars in the background. Thanks to the colors we can perceive depth and contrast which add a dramatic touch to the scene. The minimal editing is quite understandable with such a view. Although the contrast can receive a little bit strengthening. It can make the aurora even pop more against the clothes. You can also try to boost clarity and texture to bring out more depth and definition. I'm not much experienced in this kind of images, but when the sight affects me, I try to come up with some artistic or technical insights. You might also try to darken the sky, just a little bit for a much more vivid appearance. If you think that you do not lose too many pixels, you might also crop the image and place the center to the upper left interest point and avoid a not so interesting mid center position. I hope I could be helpful. I wish you all the best.Cicek
