Hello, I'd love to receive a perspective on that recent work of mine.
I feel something is missing here and the image could be improved - color wise, crop or with adjustment of small details. Would appreciate any feedback.

All I did was a simple retouch of models skin on a face, general color correction to my taste, and obviously photoshoped an animal, so it's hopefully adds some volume to the picture.

An idea was to depict tired beauty who use to go to the forrest from her village, to get a water from a secret lake for her family, meanwile taking a quick nap under her tree.

Best,
Alexei

Hi Alexei welcome back to " The Real Critique " And thnak you for sharing this fine image of yours " A Jug of Water "

A great looking image full of wonderful mood and quality of light. Not sure about the animal I'm sitting on the fence about that addition. Yes I can see this published on a good day - I see plenty of power to please and beautiful detail well done both of you - great looking model I hope she cost you much gold.

I have had a play with dodge and burn tools see attached and a hint of contrast - Daniel Springgay

Thanks a lot Daniel, I see the shifts in accents you did, make picture even better, I'll follow those and will try to see what else can I correct. I think I'll leave the animal, but will make it less noticeable.

Yes, she was wonderful and perfect person for that work, very glad I found her!

Hi Alexei,

In your image, it is the background that is the problem. The processing on the background is unnatural and disturbs the image. I think it would be a good idea to remove the animal that is unnecessarily eye-catching. The foreground is excellent. In my opinion, it is important not to touch it. The most important thing is the square of light that crosses the red dress. It really is excellent and gives great strength to the image. In the retouch proposed by Daniel, the lightening of the red dress disturbs the small square of magic light. The only correction to be made in the foreground is to darken the red of the dress very lightly (really very, very little). Red is a color that finds its strength in dark shades. Do not touch the color of the small square

If you want to improve your photo, work on the background only.
